The example of Ontario is that even if you live below the poverty line, you will still not get legal aid if you don't meet the very low financial eligibility requirements, and at the same time, the government is spending more and more money on the criminal justice side. There is more investment on the other parties within criminal justice, for instance, the police, the crowns, the courts, and there is no relative increase to legal aid so the system becomes more and more lopsided.
