Standing Orders and Procedure  Mr. Speaker, that is an excellent question, and I agree. When working in a 35-second window, question period turns into these almost gotcha moments. I first heard something about this after being elected in 2015. In my first question period, members were screaming, and I was wondering what was going on.

Standing Orders and Procedure  Mr. Speaker, it is a real pleasure for me to speak today on the Standing Orders. I would like to clarify that the views I will be expressing are my own. Everyone who knows me knows I like rules a lot. In fact, I volunteered to be on PROC because I really like rules. I am probably one of the very few MPs who have read the Standing Orders multiple times, as well as Bosc and Gagnon, but I digress.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the first report of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology, in relation to its study of fraud calls in Canada. Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee requests the government table a comprehensive response to this report.

Longueuil Traditional Christmas Market and Fair  Mr. Speaker, on Wednesday I will have the pleasure of taking part in the official opening of Longueuil's 14th annual traditional Christmas market and fair. This year, because of the pandemic, this event is moving with the times and becoming a virtual market. Thanks to the organizers' creativity, everyone will have the opportunity to discover our talented local artisans' products and shop online.

Canada Labour Code  Mr. Speaker, it is an honour for me to rise in the House today to take part in the debate on Bill C-220. However, before I begin, as we are in Veterans' Week and today is red Friday, I would like to take a moment to thank those who have served, those who are still serving, and the parents and family members of military across the country for their service.

Income Tax Act  Mr. Speaker, based on the member opposite's feedback, I assume he and the Conservative Party will be supporting Bill C-9. As he mentioned in his speech, when the pandemic hit we were building the plane and at the same time we were flying it. Was it perfect? No. Through collaboration, through debate and through this process we can make things better.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that safe, affordable housing is a surefire way to slow community transmission. My riding is in dire need of more affordable housing. That is why I was so pleased with the rapid housing initiative announcement. Can the minister update the House on how this new program is being rolled out?

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I want to touch on exactly that when we talk about families. Many years ago my aunt came out. The family was not sure how to answer that question, because it was unfortunately a very different time. Those conversations now happen very openly. I am hoping, and I know I am going off target, that even with this pandemic she will be celebrating her nuptials with her long-time partner in a couple of weeks.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, this bill would not take away conversations, which I hope families are having when children have questions about their identity and their sexual orientation. I am hoping that they are having those conversations with their parents, and this bill would not take away those conversations.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, as I said, every country is dealing with its own lived experiences. Here in Canada we have a Canadian-made approach. Bill C-8, which was brought forward before, has now been brought back as Bill C-6, and it is really a Canadian approach. I know that some people would say that it does not go far enough in terms of protection, especially of those who are vulnerable, such as our children, who are facing incredible discrimination and horrors, which we have heard of in this House and through our history.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure to speak to Bill C-6, which proposes to promote the equality rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit Canadians by taking important steps to end a practice that discriminates against them. Because of the individual harm conversion therapy causes to those subjected to it and the societal harms it causes by propagating the myth that a person can and should change a fundamental part of who they are, their sexual orientation or gender identity, Bill C-6 proposes new criminal offenses that criminalize the practice with a view to ending it.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, on a point of order. During question period, the member for Red Deer—Lacombe used inappropriate, disrespectful hand gestures at the end of his question, counter to Standing Order 18, and I would ask him to apologize.

Veterans Affairs  Mr. Speaker, the poppy campaign is how the Royal Canadian Legion raises essential funds to support our veterans across the country. That is the case for branches 94 and 159 in my riding, Longueuil—Charles-LeMoyne. This year's campaign kicks off next Friday, but things are much different because of the pandemic.

Health  Mr. Speaker, COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc back home, in Quebec. With more than 80,000 confirmed cases and nearly 6,000 deaths so far, millions of Quebeckers are currently in red zones. I am glad the Quebec government decided to adopt the federal COVID Alert app. Could the Prime Minister provide the House with an update on the app and tell us how this tool can help Quebeckers better protect themselves?

Government Business No. 1  Mr. Speaker, as we know, when the pandemic hit in March we were building the plane at the same time that we were flying it. It was very important that we addressed the immediate needs of Canadians across the country. Based on the feedback we were receiving from Canadians and from fellow MPs about what was working and where we needed to make tweaks, we delivered.
