Child Care  Mr. Speaker, getting their child a spot in day care helps women build their careers. Access to affordable, inclusive day care makes life more affordable and helps create jobs. Several agreements have already been signed. Can the Minister of Families give us an update on what is being done to make good on our promise?

Colonel-Gaëtan-Côté Armoury  Mr. Speaker, in May 2020, we committed to doing the necessary repairs to ensure that our reservists could continue to train in Sherbrooke, and we have kept our word. Any of my constituents who have walked down Belvédère Street will have seen workers at the Colonel-Gaëtan-Côté Armoury.

Climate Change  Mr. Speaker, yesterday, the Governor General read the Speech from the Throne, a speech that outlines the government's objectives and tangible ways to achieve them. A significant part of the speech focused on climate action, the urgent need to act, and what we are doing to rebuild our economy and be a leader in the fight against climate change.

Official Languages  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her important question. The Bloc Québécois does not have a monopoly on love for the French language. I have always worked in French and will continue to do so. It is my language and my identity. It is our history and we are all very proud of it.

Official Languages  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her important question. Since I was appointed, and since forming government, actually, we have recognized the importance of protecting and promoting French in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada, as well as the importance of protecting our minority language communities.

The Liberal Government  Madam Speaker, my first term as a member of Parliament has been unusual, obviously on account of COVID. As far as I am concerned, since October 2019, I have been proud to represent the most beautiful city in the world, Sherbrooke. I am proud to be part of a government that has lifted over one million Canadians out of poverty, including nearly 400,000 children.

Canada Labour Code  Mr. Speaker, I want to start by reminding members of some important points we all agree on in this House. It is important to give Canadians the real facts and the real issues so that we can find common ground and common solutions. First, we agree that French is a minority language in North America and that we need to do more to protect and promote it.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her important question. The speech I gave this afternoon came from the heart. Where I come from, at home, we all live together and there is no difference between us. Everyone is happy, we love everybody and there are no barriers. That is how life goes.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for giving me time to speak a little more about Bill C-6. Every individual should be able to be who they are. We are who we are, the way we were born. Living in an open society where everyone is accepted as they are requires great openness, and that is what makes our communities strong.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for her question. Attitudes change over the years and decades. The fact that LGBTQ2+ communities are more engaged in raising awareness and are more visible in every sphere of life once again demonstrates Canadians’ openness. In my opinion, attitudes had to change if there was to be an equal place for everyone.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I would like to inform the House that I will be sharing my time with the hon. member for Winnipeg North. This afternoon, I am very pleased to be able to speak to the bill that is before us today. It is a very relevant and important bill, which, without exaggeration, has the potential to save lives.

Moisson Estrie  Mr. Speaker, this past long weekend was a very busy one for Sherbrooke and for Moisson Estrie, an organization that redistributes food and helps people experiencing financial vulnerability. Once again this year, Dr. Sébastien Roulier ran as part of the “Avançons tous en cœur” fundraising campaign for Moisson Estrie.

Affordable Housing  Mr. Speaker, I want to take a moment to talk about the benefits of budget 2021 as it relates to one of the priorities of my riding of Sherbrooke, social housing. With or without a pandemic, many families struggle to access affordable housing every year, and this is also true in Sherbrooke.

Official Languages  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question. Protecting our two official languages is obviously a priority for our government. No matter what anyone says, official languages are and will always be a priority. The minister is well informed and is working hard to promote and protect our beautiful language.
