Public Safety committee  On top of what my colleague Mr. Davies has said, I think it is important to recognize that the Criminal Code is quite clear on the criminal offences relating to terrorism, including support and facilitation of terrorist activity, and on what constitutes a terrorist activity. Also, the international conventions and protocols of the United Nations, to which Canada ascribes, are quite clear on what activities constitute a terrorist activity.

Public Safety committee  I'll be brief. The efforts to combat terrorist financing are an extremely good example of both international and domestic efforts dovetailing together to achieve an objective. Coming out of 9/11, that's one of the main objectives that the international community had, where the United Nations Security Council began listing certain entities associated with al-Qaeda and the Taliban, and countries in their domestic legislation would implement those efforts to take those listed entities by the United Nations in a consolidated fashion and put it in action in domestic law.
