Foreign Affairs committee Thank you for your question, Ms. Laverdière. I will take the opportunity to add my comments to those of Professor Walsh and Professor Hanham regarding the purpose of sanctions. I will also talk about human resources and the mandates that you and others have talked about. First of all, the purpose of sanctions is quite simple.

Foreign Affairs committee You said it like a native, Mr. Chairman. It's Macedonian, in case you are wondering. Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. Like Vince, I've been practising for the bulk of my 30 years as a lawyer, in the large national firm Bennett Jones for the past 10 years and another firm before that.
