The Environment  Mr. Speaker, this is the era of climate change, not the era of “Drill, baby, drill”. The CEO of Suncor said that the time for major projects is over. The CEO of Teck Resources wrote that, before the company will invest, the provinces need to agree on their climate policies. It has gotten to the point where the oil companies are greener than the government.

Emergency Debate  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question. I think we need to start by determining whether a project would cause pollution. In this case, the project clearly would. That brings me to the energy transition, which is what we should be working towards. We need to stop subsidizing dirty energy and start subsidizing clean, green energy.

Emergency Debate  Mr. Speaker, I do not have kids yet, but I do not know whether I want to bring any into the world because I do not know where this world is heading. I understand that the member is worried about his children's future, but more subsidies for fossil fuels will not be good for our children.

Emergency Debate  Mr. Speaker, I see that my colleague from Louis-Saint-Laurent really likes that argument. That was in 2012, and it is now 2020. We are talking about our future, for future generations and my generation. I invite my colleague to catch up to 2020.

Emergency Debate  Mr. Speaker, talking about the economy is not a bad thing, but there is more to life than the economy. For instance, there is the current crisis. The government says, and the opposition parties say, that we have to find a balance between the two. However, projects like Teck Frontier do not really strike a balance between the economy and the environment.

Emergency Debate  Mr. Speaker, I will share my time with the member for Saint-Jean. As much as I enjoy debating in the House, and I am really starting to like it, I have to say that this emergency debate took me by surprise. On one side, we have the Bloc Québécois, which recognizes the climate emergency, believes in energy transition and ending fossil fuel subsidies, and wants to invest in clean, green energy.

Emergency Debate  Madam Speaker, my colleague from Quebec poured his heart and soul into defending the province of Alberta, but in recent years, Quebec's greenhouse gas emissions have dropped by nearly 10% while Alberta's have gone up by nearly 60%. Quebec is doing what needs to be done, but this is like trying to escape from quicksand.

Climate Change Accountability Act  moved for leave to introduce Bill C-215, An Act respecting Canada’s fulfillment of its greenhouse gas emissions reduction obligations. Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased to introduce my first bill in the House of Commons. As an environmentalist and as the Bloc Québécois climate change critic, it went without saying that I would present the Canadian government with a practical solution to help the fight against climate change.

Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, the rail crisis will not be resolved without dialogue with the Wet'suwet'en. Fortunately, despite the government's inaction, the RCMP understood that it was part of the problem and agreed to withdraw from the territory. So much the better, but the bond of trust with the RCMP is broken, and it will not be repaired overnight.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech, which was very moving. I understand that this is an extremely important bill that we want to pass as quickly as possible. It is very important to do so. There was a suggestion that groups be consulted. That is a very good idea.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, the rail blockade was caused by the RCMP. It was the RCMP that sparked the conflict by ordering its officers to arrest peaceful Wet'suwet'en protesters. It was the RCMP that ordered its officers to use as much force as possible, including snipers, to break up the protests.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, to resolve the crisis, will the Prime Minister ask for the withdrawal of the RCMP from Wet'suwet'en territory and apologize for the RCMP's mistakes?

Relations with Indigenous Peoples  Madam Speaker, I had a question all ready for my colleague, but the Conservative member got me thinking about something. From what I understand, the RCMP deployed members on the ground, including snipers, to put an end to the peaceful protests. I do not know what exactly was said to the RCMP.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, my colleague spoke a lot about the expertise of the people who sit on the Parole Board. However, we have noticed that there are flaws in the system, and that is what led to the current situation. I would like to know whether the member thinks it is right that correctional officers gave a man permission to seek out sexual services despite his history of violence against women.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, as I said, one must always be careful when commenting on this kind of situation, but sometimes we have no choice. The fact that this man was allowed to see prostitutes and access such services is unacceptable. This means that the system knew what was going on. The first time I heard about this case, I thought his visits must have been happening in secret and that the officials must not have been aware of the situation.
