Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, it is clear that the budget would not invest in the future that the member is referring to. Canadians are not asking for a future of massive debt and massive taxes. The government ran on a specific promise to cap the budget deficit at $10 billion. Canadians are not saying they want a future of massive debt, that they want to bury their children and grandchildren in $120 billion of deficit spending over four years.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, I rise in the House today to speak of the Liberal government's proposed line of credit plan, also known as budget 2016. As everyone can imagine, either from the last sentence or my previous speech on this bill, I am not a fan of this budget. The Minister of Finance and his parliamentary secretary have gone on ad nauseam about pre-budget consultations as a way to justify this mess of a budget.

Petitions  Madam Speaker, I have a petition to submit, signed by several hundred residents of the Edmonton area. The petitioners are calling on the House to pass legislation which would recognize preborn children as separate victims when they are injured or killed during the commission of an offence against their mothers.

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, the International Business Times reports that Canada ordering the Super Hornet would save thousands of jobs in the U.S. I am just wondering if the hon. minister could advise us, if we go with the Super Hornet, if we have done studies on how many jobs it will create in Canada as opposed to how many the F-35 will?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, we learned a new word today for cut. It is “re-profiling”, as in re-profiling like a knife, or I re-profiled my finger on paper. The $3.7 billion that has been re-profiled five years down the road, after this first mandate is over, could the minister tell me which projects that is for?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, I would like to find out from the minister what the projects are exactly.

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, the projects pushed back five years for the $3.7 billion, the Arctic ships, the planes. Is this solely matching money to when the projects are ready, or is the matter that the money is not available right now for five years?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, the parliamentary secretary discussed lapsed funding from last year. I think it was $1.1 billion. Could he please reconfirm for me what the items were that lapsed.

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, we understand one of the issues for re-profiling is the F-35 or the Super Hornet. Could the hon. defence minister give us a ballpark timeline of when we will get going on that project, or when we will start planning it?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, could the defence minister tell us when we will have that update?

Business of Supply  Madam Chair, when will we have an accurate update? No, I am just kidding. We have seen that the F-35 project has already created large investments in our aerospace industry. Contractors in B.C., Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick are enjoying the fruits of the F-35 project that is going on with our allies right now.

Fort McMurray Fire  Madam Speaker, I am proud to stand in this House today as the member of Parliament for Edmonton West. The city of Edmonton has a big heart and is known for its hospitality. The people of Edmonton care for all who travel to our city. This very fact has been beautifully displayed over the past few weeks, as thousands of evacuees from Fort McMurray flee the devastating wildfire to seek refugee in Edmonton.

Employment Insurance  Mr. Speaker, it has been months since we have had a jump in EI in Edmonton, and it has been months since the government excluded Edmonton region from the EI extension. It is not an issue associated with the fire recently in Fort McMurray. We have raised this issue several times with the government.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1.  Mr. Speaker, I would like to clear up a few rather disingenuous comments made by my colleague with respect to past history. The truth is that the Mulroney government inherited a massive deficit from the Liberal government. The deficits it ran were solely due to interest payments.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am very proud to join my colleagues on both sides of the House to present a petition from 4,000 members from both my riding and across Canada who are requesting Parliament and our Canadian government to publicly call for an end to the persecution of the Falun Gong practitioners in China, and amend legislation to combat forced organ harvesting, as well as passing a resolution to establish measures to stop the Chinese Communist regime's crime of systematically murdering Falun Gong practitioners for their organs.
