Canadian Heritage committee  Thank you, Madam Chair. I might pick up with Mr. Smith and where the previous questions were going. You talked about training starting at around 2015, including through the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region. You're saying that this training is ongoing. You're referring to it as “constant education”.

Canadian Heritage committee  Yes, you do, and I don't mind if they weigh in.

Canadian Heritage committee  Just in the interest of time, from a blanket across the CHL, do you think that this training is working? We see incident after incident, and it doesn't seem to be effective. Canadians don't want to see that a box is being ticked off saying, “This is what we're doing.” Do you see a reduction in incidents since this training has started?

Canadian Heritage committee  I have very limited time, Minister. Maybe in closing, what would you say to encourage the bravery, the courage, of someone who has felt abuse to come forward, and that their voice will be heard?

Canadian Heritage committee  Thank you, Madam Chair. I want to thank the minister for being here today. From discussions with constituents and people everywhere, I know parents want to see change. Canadians want to see change. We see that trust in Hockey Canada has definitely been lost. Minister, as you mentioned a number of times and as we understand, Sport Canada is not a regulatory agency.

Canadian Heritage committee  Thank you for that quick and decisive response. Our thoughts here are with the alleged victim. I can't help but say we shouldn't be having conversations about women being abused; we should be having conversations about men not abusing women. If we keep using the same systems, how can we expect different outcomes?

To claim that these serious allegations are disturbing is probably an understatement, from the testimony we've heard. Some may feel that this matter is settled, but that's not the case.

Mr. Ripley, can you explain if would this remove requirements for platforms to showcase any kind of Canadian content?
