Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, today, we celebrate Vaisakhi on the Hill. We had the final prayer of the Akhand Path that commenced on Saturday. With that, I would be honoured to present, in both official languages, the following reports of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs: the 34th, 35th, 36th and 37th reports of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I was just informed today by my clerk at PROC that I have to ask for concurrence in order for the reports for the extension of these four provinces to go through. I have not asked my colleagues in the other parties for concurrence as yet. I will do my due diligence before coming back to the House, but I do hope to see the extensions requested once the process is followed.

Food Day in Canada Act  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to express the government's full support for Bill S-227, an act to establish food day in Canada. This private member's bill was introduced by the Hon. Rob Black from the other place, and we are discussing it here. Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I want to say that I agree with the need to take foreign interference very seriously, and I want to ask the member whether he agrees that we should look at not just the 2019 and 2020 elections, but at the others as well. I know that the NDP thinks that we need to examine interference from other parts of the world, but could we also not examine more elections because we need more information to protect our democratic systems?

National Security Review of Investments Modernization Act  Madam Speaker, I think in my comments that I shared today I did state there will never be a shortage of critics, and it is important that we debate and that we make sure this legislation right. This is about the economic and national security of Canada. Foreign investments and trade are necessary for Canada's economic growth and employment opportunities, but need to be done while protecting Canada's national interests.

National Security Review of Investments Modernization Act  Madam Speaker, I think it is time that we actually debated this bill. We need to make sure that there are solutions and processes in place that will work for more Canadians. I would say that, yes, we can always look at what has taken place in the past. We can also ask how we go about it to make sure we have systems in place so these concerns the member is raising are addressed and to make sure information is available, and then that we move forward in that way.
