Finance committee  I would just say that yes, it is a commitment in the Beyond the Border action plan to ratify the treaty and have legislation there. In terms of the Beyond the Border action plan, there is a desire by both countries to meet the commitments in a timely fashion.

Finance committee  Thank you. It's a pleasure to be back here again. I'll be speaking about the pilot. The RCMP would normally be the ones to speak to it, but I can speak to the results of the 2007 pilot in the Cornwall area because there were a number of notable successes there. Finance committee  Thank you for the question. If a Canadian found himself in that situation, I think that what would be advantageous about this legislation is that, if it were on the Canadian side, if there were a law enforcement operation that picked up someone on the Canadian side, it would be under the direction of Canadian law enforcement.

Finance committee  Thank you for the question. It is an interesting question actually, and it's one that we've discussed and thought about quite a bit. To start off with, when you look at integrated cross-border maritime law enforcement, it does work as a multiplier effect of sorts in terms of your resources at the border, in terms of increasing your coordination among law enforcement at the border.
