Status of Women committee I just seek to clarify for the knowledge of the committee. The motion was moved by Ms. Neville. We then had an amendment moved by Ms. Smith. The amendment would be what is on the floor presently, because the subamendment that was proposed by Madame Demers is actually a subsequent amendment, not amending the subamendment.

Status of Women committee Perhaps I could clarify. The witnesses, the officials from the departments, are scheduled to appear before the committee. Just in light of the broad scope of the subject, they're seeking to be able to provide as thorough responses as possible. So if the questions aren't specific....

Status of Women committee Mr. Stanton, perhaps I could just ask you to clarify something before the vote. You are moving the amendment that what part of the text be deleted? Perhaps you would read out the part that you would like deleted.

Status of Women committee In fact, in the explanation it was stated that it was withdrawn, but it was in fact the consensus of the committee that it be deferred to the following meeting. So there was a misunderstanding in that regard.

The Clerk
Status of Women committee I'll just make reference to the notice of motion by Irene Mathyssen of March 27, in which the three titles are cited. It was submitted by Ms. Mathyssen, who, because she was the mover of the original motion, cannot move an amendment to her own motion. Therefore, the chair read it into the record.

Status of Women committee In the interest of pleasing the committee.... As clerk I don't have the authority to call witnesses without the direction of the committee. So I will do my best to have the updated list to you sometime during the two break weeks, based on the feedback that I'll receive by the end of this week, Friday.
